20130526 What did I eat today?

So I really got lazy with my food pictures - but for the most part I've stayed on track with my food consumption. I had an eye opener this week. I had a cold cut sub from Subway - something I eat for lunch from time to time. I never really thought about the calorie count. Well most companies have a calculator to calculate your calories for a meal. I decided to punch in my sub. 1080 calories. OUCH. That's most of a day's calories in a few bites. So buyer beware - if you are on a diet check out the calories FIRST and you can budget a lot better. I could have absorbed half of that but the full sub was a deal breaker for that day.
Anyway - aside from a few mistakes like that I have stayed on track and I'm down 5 lbs (so far) for the month. If I can drop 5 lbs a month that's 60 lbs a year which is nothing to turn your nose up about.
Here's the morning food rundown - pictures might vary slightly from actual food consumed.

That's coffee and mini wheats to start the day. Most days start this way. How will the day end ? Stay tuned.

20130521 Back to business

Ok so what do we have here. Looks like I missed a few pictures since my weekend of calorie misadventure - but I'll try to get back on track now. I see yesterday's lunch there which was plain chicken salad, some sliced fruit, and some tomato soup. There was a crunchy snack bar in there somewhere for good measure.
And a daily dose of mini wheats and
coffee to start the day.

What I don't have pictures of are the 2 for $5 Whoppers I had for dinner yesterday and lunch today. At least I didn't wolf them down in one meal. I could have easily. Tonight I had a grilled cheese with ham and a cup of tomato soup.

I eat pretty much the same things all the time - with fast food to fill in the gaps when I get lazy. I find that if I can avoid the fast food I lose weight. Pretty simple actually - so no excuses from me.

20130519 Catching up - My weekend of shame

Starting with dinner Friday - we decided on Pizza. Why oh why...I had one of the "Pizza Rollers" also - it's like a mini Stromboli kind of thing.

Saturday started innocently enough

Until I decided to revisit the leftover pizza.

Astute observers will observe I used the same pizza picture twice. Serving was identical - delivery varied slightly between the meals. Then in the afternoon I had to do a music event and we were given a few free beverages. 2 to be exact. Draft beer.

Here's where things really went off the rails - Chipotle. "Food with integrity" That's what is says on their website. Fat and sodium filled calorie bombs. That's what it says in my stomach.

It was a steak burrito with fajita veggies, cheese and sour cream - at least 840 calories - probably more. That's a big chunk of calories for me - and it wasn't really that good. Lesson learned.

Ok - my conscience is purged. Moving on and I'll try to make better menu choices today.

Sunday starts innocently enough.....

20130517 TGIF Food Fest

Usual breakfast - Mini wheats and coffee. I got a pic of the mini wheats. You'll have to use your imagination on the coffee.

Was in a hurry this morning so I had to buy lunch. Had an orange leftover from another day. Got a cup of Chili and some Tuna salad and a diet Coke.

That's it till much later today. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

20130516 Food recap

The usual to start the day (coffee and mini wheats)

Then a bag of chow to last me till 7:30pm

That's a green tea an apple an orange about an ounce of peanuts some wheat thins a wedge of laughing cow light swiss and a parmesan breaded tilapia on a wheat round with a piece of cheddar.

Sorry I grabbed a stock photo from another food blogger for dinner. Mine looked sort of like this except it was on flat bread and it was even less appealing if you can imagine that. 6 inch cold cut on flatbread with onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatos, and a dash of mayo. That was dinner.

Oh and the kids saved me 2 spoons worth (yes like two TEAspoons worth) of the ice cream we got from Walgreens - so there's that. I liked the Macadamia Mash-Up much better than the Turtle Squirtle.

Until tomorrow.

20130515 Lunch and dinner

For lunch I had a can of tuna on a wheat round - I added about a teaspoon of mayo and a dab of sweet relish

Then for dinner it was parmesan breaded Tilapia from Sam's and some mixed vegetables.

Overall a pretty fishy day. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the snack I sampled - courtesy of the Apprentice TV show. I was lucky enough to try a sample of each flavor of ice cream developed by the two finalists on this season of the Apprentice. Total consumed was about one serving - so I didn't go crazy.

20130515 Day 15 of Picture what you eat

I have to admit - it's still working. I am less inclined to eat JUNK if I have to tell the world about it. Maybe it's the shame. Maybe it's the fact that I take that extra minute to think about what I am eating. Whatever it is - it's working. I am eating less crap. Except for breakfast. Same crap - different day.

The picture is a little blurry so let me tell you what you are looking at. Mini Wheats and Coffee !

20130514 The grind

Started the day the way I usually do - mini wheats and coffee.

(This is a stock photo but I guarantee my serving today was very similar to the serving I've had the last 300 days.)
Then I had some snacks to tide me over to lunch time. About an ounce of peanuts, a laughing cow wedge, about 15 wheat thins, a diet green tea, and an apple. (The orange did not get eaten today - it will be there for future consumption on Thursday.)

Then I got home and indulged in some craziness. An Angus and Swiss with Mushroom burger from the golden arches. It was a gut buster (and a diet buster). This will probably be it for today. Maybe a peanut butter sandwich later.

That's it for today's food adventure. Thanks for playing along and I hope you've enjoyed the wild food journey I have taken today. Join me again tomorrow for "As the stomach turns"

20130513 Dinner

It was this - I put it in the microwave. I ate it.  That's Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla. I had the misfortune of opening this up while heating to see what I was actually eating. It was some kind of grey chicken flavored paste. Wow. Well, this is how the other half lives in case you were wondering. I did add the shredded cheddar in the bag,  so I can at least certify that there was some actual cheese in this thing.

More adventures in food to come.

20130513 Trying to stay on track

20130512 Have it your way?

It's a Whopper Junior. Not to be confused with a full sized or double Whopper with cheese. No - it's a Whopper Junior , with a postage stamp sized piece of "meat" and some miscellaneous vegetable type toppings. I think there was one strand of onion ,  a slice of tomato thin enough to see through , and a piece of lettuce. I can see why they only charge a buck for these things. Don't be a hater now - you know you'd like to eat about 10 of these right now.

20130512 Sunday Feeding

The usual to start the day - coffee and mini wheats. Then a half tuna sandwich for lunch and because I was gonna be away in the studio for 6 hours I had a Quesadilla with some extra shredded cheddar thrown in for good measure. I'm still fighting the head cold from Hades - I hope nobody else gets this thing because it is not fin.
I've been told there is a Whopper Junior headed my way shortly. I'll let you know how that works out.

20130511 Hardly eating with a nasty cold

I had a half chicken breast shredded in a bowl with a tablespoon of mayo and a half teaspoon of sweet relish

20130511 OFF THE RAILS

Coffee and Mini Wheats
Not so bad - that's my usual start of the day. But then things went south in a hurry.

It's a PIZZA PARTY lunch ! (Didn't we have this problem last weekend !?)
That's my desk underneath the pizza - yikes - I really need to go through those papers.

20130509 Dinner

Fish filets and broccoli

20130509 Big plate of FREE PIZZA

Imagine my horror when I went back to our company break room and saw the dreaded pizza box on the table. Take a piece - go ahead. One piece won't hurt. THANK GOODNESS someone else got there first. The box was empty. Whew. Disaster averted.

20130509 Lunch and beyond

The usual suspects here - Green tea, boiled chicken, Laughing Cow light swiss wedge, Wheat Thins. Peanuts. Apple. Orange.

Still feeling under the weather - another 6 hours staring at a computer listening to customer complaints should fix that. Grrrrrr.

20130509 Breakfast

I'm not feeling so hot today. I have a sore throat and it feels like I have a bit of a cold coming on. Anyway - here's my breakfast.

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

20130508 Snack

About a tablespoon of peanut butter on a wheat round

20130508 Dinner

Chicken salad and about 10 wheat thins. Here's the evidence. Chicken salad is about half a chicken breast (about 5 oz) and a spoon of mayo.
